our programs

Seattle CARES offers innovative programs that help Black youth and young adults succeed and flourish. Our programs respect the voices of the students, adults, parents and guardians we serve, and reflect the needs and wishes of the community.

We are guided by the latest research on education, mentorship, race and opportunity. Our results-oriented approach was developed by some of the nation’s top educators, wellness professionals, counselors and advocates working with our parent organization, National CARES Mentoring Movement.

We offer the following programs:

The Rising: Partners with middle-school students to provide the cultural, academic and social underpinnings young people need to believe in themselves, succeed in school and prosper in life. Our sessions are single-gender. Learn more at The Rising for Boys or The Rising for Girls.

Community Wellness Circles: Provides parents and guardians, primarily women, with a place to de-stress, share daily challenges, and learn how to better mentor their children.

Voices for Change: Introduces educators, mental health counselors and other top national experts in a virtual forum that provide tools and techniques to a difference in the lives of parents and guardians.

Our Best: Recruits, trains and deploys motivated Black male adults who want to give back to their community and make a difference in the future of Black youth.
